DriveStation Install on Windows 2000/XP when Drivers are not Automatically Detected

  1. If it is not automatically working, Windows will probably see the unit as a "USB 2.0 to IDE Bridge" in Device Manager.
  2. Right click on this and choose Properties.
  3. Go to the driver tab and choose "Reinstall Drivers" or "Update Drivers". This will bring up the Hardware Install Wizard.
  4. Choose "Install from a list or specific location" after the wizard finishes introducing itself and choose Next.
  5. Uncheck all boxes except for "Include this location in the search" and browse to "C:WinntINF" (may be "C:Windowsinf" and search for "usbstor.inf".
  6. This will be the driver users will  need. If the Found New Hardware Wizard comes up again, it will be looking for "disk.inf" in the same folder.
If it is still has an Unknown Device, this will probably need the "volume.inf" driver in that same folder.
  7. After all of this, reboot the computer and it should be functional now.
